Families of crewmen throng on dock at Long Beach, CAL.,
as heavy cruiser Helena ties up yesterday after returning from
Korean war zone with other units of Pacific Fleet.
The ships came home for routine conditioning.


WELCOME MAT OUT FOR SHIP BACK FROM KOREA
Long Beach, Calif., Nov. 9.---Crew members of the heavy cruiser Helena
are welcomed back to the U. S. from Korea, where the ship pounded
coastal targets and participated in landing operations.
Friends and relatives of the crew wait on the pier.---(AP Wirephoto).
