ONO-GROEMON AT REQUEST OF PRINCE MUNETAKA AND PRIEST JOKO. IN THE YEAR 1495 A TIDAL WAVE WHICH
SWEPT AWAY THE GREAT TEMPLE OF THE BUDDHA AND REMAINED ONLY ITS FOUNDATION STONES NOT INJURED
THE BUDDHA. THE GREAT EARTHQUAKE IN SEPT. 1923 NOT INJURED THE BUDDHA'S BUT DESTROYED HIS BASE
AND IT WAS REPAIRED IN 1926.
