The two most important events of our Hawaiian trips were our commissary departments third place finish in the annual Hawaiian Culinary Arts Festival in March
and the two visits paid us by Admiral John Sides, Commander-in-Chief of the Pacific Fleet.

Throughtout the islands there was beauty . . . .
from the lush green velvet of the well-watered hillsides
and the bursting foam of the "blow-hole"
to the softness of the Polynesian maidens.

Our memories of Hawaii will always include tropical gardens, jagged coastlines, and the dramatic sunsets over the sands of Waikiki.
