With snow on the ground and chilly weather upon us, it’s truly beginning to look and feel
like winter in the village.

Mishicot’s second annual Winterfest is coming to Village Park from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.,
Saturday, Feb. 20. Along with food and drinks, activities will include human foosball,
competitive sledding, giant Jenga, family dog pulls and a giant snow sculpture by returning carver
Michael Sponholz, former winning member of Team USA at the 1998 Winter Olympics in Japan.

New this year at Winterfest will be the addition of a 30-foot snow wall built especially for attendees
to create mosaics in with colored ice chips. Last year’s event was a success. Let’s hope for beautiful
weather again this year. More details will follow as the event day approaches.

If you’re looking to stay occupied on these chilly winter days, don’t forget to check out any of Mishicot’s
six Little Libraries while downtown. These libraries, sponsored by the Mishicot Lions Club, are free and
allow readers of all ages to take and leave books for others to share. You may find libraries in front of the
Village Hall, at the VFW, near Bank First National, in front of Cenex Convenience Store, at the Randolph
Street park, and at the Steiners Corners park. Books you wish to donate may be dropped off at the Village
Hall. Settle in with a hot cup of coffee and a good book to beat the cold.

The Mishicot Senior Nutrition site menu for the week of Jan. 10 is: Monday, pork loin, scalloped potatoes,
red cabbage, slice of bread, dessert; Wednesday, meatballs, fluffy rice, peas and carrots, dinner roll,
jazzy Jell-O; Friday, pizza, green beans, half banana, dessert.

I am looking to add a local history section to this column. If you or anyone you know has old photographs
or interesting stories about the Mishicot area for possible inclusion in the column, contact me —
let’s keep Mishicot’s rich heritage alive.
