After every four to six weeks of duty in the combat area, all
hands could look forward to several days of fun and relaxing
in and around Yokosuka, Japan


On the first of these visits the city officials formally welcomed the ship back to Japan.
Not only were the dancing girls awaiting the ship when she docked, but the Naval base
band. In addition, as a representative of the city, a young lady of Japan presented a
bouquet to Admiral Libby on the Quarterdeck.


Fleet Activities was large; however, buses afforded an opportunity to see the
movies, shop at ship's service, or enjoy the recreational advantages.


These were also times for reenlistment

And the inevitable personnel inspections.

She also did tailoring . . .
