GOLDEN GATE BRIDGE

The Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco was designed by Joseph B. Strauss and
completed in May 1937 at a cost of $35,500.000. The huge span is illuminated by night
with yellow sodium vapor lights and links northern California to the peninsula of San Francisco.

CITY HALL AND CIVIC CENTER

San Francisco's City Hall is a magnificent edifice built of granite in the French Renaissance style.
Its immense dome rises 300 feet from the ground, which is ten feet higher than the dome of the
nation's Capitol in Washington, D. C.

UNION SQUARE

At the foot of the luxurious St. Francis Hotel is this beautiful green park.
Below the surface of the park is the world's largest underground parking lot.
It can accommodate 1700 cars and occupies four levels.

FISHERMAN'S WHARF, SAN FRANCISCO

One of the most picturesque sights in San Francisco is this scene of Fisherman's Warf.
Here many hundreds of fishing boats berth daily. On the street side are located
San Francisco's outstanding, world-renowned Seafood Restaurants.

HYDE STREET CABLE CAR

San Francisco's cable cars still retain their place in the affections of residents and visitors alike.
A trip over the hills of the fabulous city is filled with excitement, thrills and panoramic views
as the car sturdily navigates the route.

SAN FRANCISCO BAY BRIDGE AT NIGHT

This is one of the outstanding spectacles of the San Francisco Bay area.
The brilliant rays of the sodium vapor lights can penetrate the thickest fogs.
The San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge was built at a cost of $97,000,000.
It is a double-deck structure with six traffic lanes on the upper deck and three
truck lanes and two interurban tracks on the lower deck.

SAN FRANCISCO-OAKLAND BAY BRIDGE

The San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge is eight and one-quarter miles long.
It was built at a total cost of $97,000,000. Its lofty span stretches from the anchorage
in San Fransisco to Yerba Buena Island, and continues to the eastern
approaches of Oakland and Berkely.

ALCATRAZ ISLAND, SAN FRANCISCO

Located in the Bay between San Francisco and Sausalito, Alcatraz Island, known as
"The Rock," is the Federal Prison for incorrigibles. It was made a Federal Penitentiary in 1933.
