HELENA'S unit awards include the COMCPAFLT Golden Anchor Award, the Engineering Excellence "E" (Two Awards), the Tactical Operations Excellence "T" (Two Awards), the Communications Excellence "E" (Two Awards), the Navigation Red & Green "N", the Damage Control Red "DC", the Deck Seamanship White "D" (two Awards), Supply Blue "E" (Three Awards), Battle Efficiency "E" (Three awards), Navy Expeditionary Medal (Five Awards), National Defense Service Medal (Two Awards), Meritorious Unit Commendation, Coast Guard Special Operations and Service Ribbon and the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal.

SAN DIEGO, CA -- Capt. Michael McLaughlin, Commander Submarine Squadron Eleven (right), presented the Meritorious Unit Commendation to USS Helena (SSN 725) Feb. 10. Holding the pennant with McLaughlin is Helena's Chief of the Boat Master Chief Sonar Technician (Submarines) Cris Addington. The citation was awarded for “meritorious service while conducting operations as a ship of the United States Seventh Fleet.” While serving in the Seventh Fleet, the Helena conducted two operations vital to national security and participated in several multi-national exercises. At the time of the award presentation, Helena was in the floating drydock Arco (ARDM 5) for scheduled maintenance. (Official U.S. Navy photo.)
