SAN DIEGO, CA -- Capt. Michael McLaughlin, Commander Submarine Squadron Eleven (right), presented the Meritorious Unit Commendation to USS Helena (SSN 725) Feb. 10. Holding the pennant with McLaughlin is Helena's Chief of the Boat Master Chief Sonar Technician (Submarines) Cris Addington. The citation was awarded for “meritorious service while conducting operations as a ship of the United States Seventh Fleet.” While serving in the Seventh Fleet, the Helena conducted two operations vital to national security and participated in several multi-national exercises. At the time of the award presentation, Helena was in the floating drydock Arco (ARDM 5) for scheduled maintenance. (Official U.S. Navy photo.)
