The following are excerpts from a letter to my Dad and Brother Bernard. It has not been edited for spelling or grammatical errors. It is post marked JAN 21, 1952.
Dear Dad,
I would have written sooner, but I don't have an address.
I came to San Diego last weekend, and I am writing from here now. I won't have an address until after the 1st of Feb., so if you do write, address your letters to San Diego
As far as the ship goes, I like it - I get 2 out of 3 nights off and 2 out of 3 week ends off. I don't have a job yet, but I've been washing paint work. Ha Ha.
Long Beach is about 105 miles from the house here, so it takes 3 hrs. to go one way.
Have you heard about the floods out here? Boy it sure is something to see. There are a lot of roads closed.
