Our first stop on Monday 5 December 2016 was at Schofield Barracks and the Tropic Lightning Museum.
The following information concerning the 25th Infantry Division is from the information sheet at the museum.

The 25th Infantry Division (25thID) was formed October 1, 1941 at Schofield Barracks, Territory of Hawaii.
Some units can trace their lineage to the Hawaiian Division which defended Hawaii from 1921 to 1941.

The 25thID encountered its first enemy as a newly formed division when Japanese forces attacked Oahu
on December 7, 1941.

In November 1942 the 25thID was ordered to action in the Solomon Islands.

The division earned its nickname 'Tropic Lightning' as a result of superior performance in the Solomons.

The pictures of the tank were taken across the round-about from the museum and some of the C-QUAD
is in the background. Closer views are in the last two photos. Parts of the movie From Here to Eternity
were filmed at Schofield Barracks but I have been unable to determine if C-QUAD was one of the buildings.

This quad was built in 1916 and had the traditional layout of rows of bunks and multi-person bathrooms.
What you see is the result of a renovation that began in 2003 and finished in 2008.

As with Building 1102 at Hickam AFB, the historical aspect of the exterior has been maintained but
significant modifications were made to the interior.

The US Army has a policy of 1+1 where each person has a single room and shares a common kitchen
and bathroom with another person.
