Charles McClelland, USS Helena CL 50, and Lee Goldfarb, USS Oglala, at the Florida PHSA Convention August 17, 2001.
Lee died February 22, 2008.
The USS Oglala was docked next to the USS Helena on December 7, 1941 and was sunk when the Helena was torpedoed.
Lee had many friends on the Helena. Charlie

Here I am in Oklahoma City in 1943.

I was on my way home after the sinking of the USS Helena.

My older brother, John was in the Army Medical Corps,
and was stationed in Oklahoma.

In early May 2008, Shipmate Charlie McClelland told his story to students at Warsaw Community High School in Warsaw, IN.

The "Thank You" letter he received from David Hoffert, U.S. and World History Teacher, follows with a picture of Student Robert Moore.
Student Moore requested Charlie's story be presented to his class.

Charlie's story is now on display in the History Department of the school.
